Production assistant (goldsmith)
Part time (3-5 days/week, 5-8 hours a day) with opportunity for full time and more responsibilities as we continue to grow quickly as a small company. Hours are very flexible.
We're looking for an enthusiastic, efficient, and knowledgable goldsmith who is interested in working at our small studio at Queen & Dovercourt.
-Must have experience with finishing castings
-Must have confidence and experience in basic stone setting. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with our pieces on our website for the type of settings we do. We use simple tools (ie. burs and pliers, etc) to achieve our settings and sometimes stylizing/shaping them. Must have a high comfort level with this. We will train you further on stone setting our pieces.
-Very strong skills at the bench (soldering, polishing, assembling, ring sizing)- additionally we use an arc welder in-house. Basic skills on the welder are great to have, but we will also train you on that if you're unfamiliar.
-Our customers and retailers expect a high level of attention to detail.
-Must work quickly & efficiently on pieces as this is a position that is always on a timeline to ship pieces to our customers and retailers.
-Quality control skills
-Organization: orders and pieces tend to get very overwhelming in busy periods! A multitasker who can stay on top of orders, ship dates, component stock, and quantities that need to be cast for orders is a must.
You will be working closely with Laurie and have input on design and production methods. If you're a goldsmith who is just graduating, we will help you to learn and perfect your skills. Although it gets busy, we are a fun little place to be at and in a great neighbourhood! Please send your resume and portfolio/examples of pieces you've made to email@example.com and tell us why you'd be a great fit! Please use the subject line "GOLDSMITH" so we don't miss your email.
Looking forward to meeting you! -Laurie
