Ready to ship
Like dappled sunlight floating through the leaves of an ancient forest, Hazel is a completely one of a kind ring centring a 3.15-carat cushion cut sapphire from Songea, Tanzania. The colour is muted and complex: teal green and taupe red living inside the same stone, creating an almost optical illusion, shifting tones depending on the light. Songea material is known for colours like this, and it is a difficult and rare material to source; most of it moves through independent lapidary artists, with only small amounts of rough material existing globally. Six antique old European cut diamonds are set into the band in a custom organic bezel, warm and softly glowing against the stone's quiet mystery.

Treatment: Routine heat treatment (a standard permanent treatment that enhances the colour and clarity of sapphires. Most sapphires are heat treated!)
This custom band is ~2.3mm at its thickest point (at the bottom of the band) and tapers down to 1.7mm close to the side stone settings.
Two ~3mm and four ~ 2.5mm antique Old European Cut natural diamonds (G-J, VS-SI, overall eye clean) embedded into the band in a custom organic bezel setting.
These Old European Cut diamonds were hand selected for their inimitable beauty and are considered true antiques. As such, they have unique character from their hand-faceted origins and may include asymmetrical faceting or shapes, minor inclusions, slight variations in colour, and surface-reaching natural inclusions. These details do not take away from the natural beauty of these diamonds and does not negatively impact their sturdiness.

All of our pieces are entirely hand crafted in our Toronto studio by our small, talented team. Laurie hand-carves every design; they are not 3D modelled on a computer and 3D printed— this includes our bespoke pieces. Each one is carved from wax, polished and stone-set by hand.
Every piece is highly considered at every angle and carved from wax to perfectly compliment the stones that will be set. We don’t use pre-fabricated, mass-produced settings made for fitting various stones and solder them on. Every setting is carved in-studio, in our signature style with special attention paid to how it will frame the stone and overall design, and how it will wear. Every small detail, down to our claw-shaped prongs, are shaped meticulously by hand.
