EU Consumer Rights
This page applies to buyers based in EU member states only.
Laurie Fleming Jewellery is a fine jewellery studio based in Toronto, Canada. We ship internationally, including to buyers in the European Union. If you are placing an order from an EU country, additional consumer rights apply to your purchase under EU law. This page sets out what those rights are, which orders they cover, and how to exercise them.
Your right of withdrawal
EU consumer law gives you the right to withdraw from any contract concluded online (a "distance contract") within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving a reason. This is sometimes called the "cooling-off period."
If we have not provided you with the required information about this right, the withdrawal period extends to 12 months and 14 days from the date you receive your order.
Which purchases this applies to
This right does not apply to made-to-order or personalised goods. Under Article 16 of EU Directive 2011/83/EU, the right of withdrawal is excluded for:
- Goods made to the consumer's specifications
- Goods that are clearly personalised
The vast majority of pieces sold by Laurie Fleming Jewellery are made to order — crafted in our Toronto studio after your order is placed. These include:
- All items listed as "made to order" on the product page
- Any piece ordered with a customised metal type, stone selection, or ring size
- Bespoke commissions of any kind
- Asrai Garden collection pieces, which are uniquely arranged for each customer at time of making
- Any piece with personalised modifications requested at checkout or by email
The right of withdrawal does apply to ready-to-ship items that have not been modified or personalised in any way. Ready-to-ship items are clearly labelled on our website and typically ship within 1–3 business days of ordering.
If you are unsure whether a specific item is made to order or ready to ship, please contact us before purchasing: info@laurieflemingjewellery.com.
How to exercise your right of withdrawal
If your purchase qualifies (see above), you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days of the day you receive your order.
You can do this in one of two ways:
-
Use the withdrawal request form on our website, which you can find by clicking the "Submit a Request" button below.
-
Contact us directly at info@laurieflemingjewellery.com with your name, your order number, and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw from your purchase. We will confirm receipt by email.
The 14-day withdrawal period begins on the day you receive your goods. We recommend notifying us as early as possible.
Returning the item
Once you have notified us of your withdrawal, you have a further 14 days to return the item to us. We will inform you over email of the correct address to ship your return to.
The item must be returned:
- Unworn and undamaged
- In its original packaging, where possible
- Using a trackable and insured shipping method
You are responsible for the cost of return shipping. We cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in transit to us. Any additional
Refunds
Once we receive your return and confirm the item is in its original condition, we will process your refund within 14 days. Refunds are issued to your original payment method.
Your refund will include:
- The full purchase price of the item
- Our standard outbound shipping cost (if you paid for an upgraded or expedited shipping option, only the cost of our standard rate is included)
