Insurance Valuation (Appraisal)

$65.00

Please keep in mind that adding an Insurance Valuation Document to your purchase can extend order processing by 3-5 business days.

This listing is for a Fine Jewellery Insurance Valuation of a Laurie Fleming Jewellery piece. It will be performed in-house by a member of the Laurie Fleming Jewellery team, and will include the details of your jewellery piece including metal and stones, along with photos, attached diamond certificates (if applicable), and customer information.

The document will be delivered to you via email, which you can then view digitally and print for your own records. It is guaranteed to be accepted by Jeweler's Mutual (our recommendation for fine jewellery insurance), and may be accepted by other insurance providers at their discretion.

You may receive the email before receiving your item since we can prepare the appraisal before shipping; be careful which email you put into the email field and if you want us to wait to send the appraisal, be sure to note that in the "Other Details" box. If you don't ask us to wait and if you put the recipient's email in the form, your surprise may be ruined!

The Fine Print:

The purpose of the fine jewellery insurance valuation document is to:

  1. Describe the item in sufficient detail to distinguish it from similar types of jewellery,
  2. Verify the condition and existence of the item, and
  3. Assign a reasonable value for the item as of the date noted on the document.

The document is intended for insurance purposes only, both for helping determine the premium to be paid and for purposes of any claim. The Estimated Retail Value of the item stated in the document helps determine the cost necessary to repair or replace the item with like kind and quality, excluding taxes. The Estimated Retail Value is not the same as the actual sale price that an owner can expect to receive in the event the item is resold. Each jewelry item is unique, so a certain level of subjectivity is always inherent in the jewelry valuation process, and others may reach different conclusions on an item's value.

All of our pieces are entirely hand crafted in our Toronto studio by our small, talented team. Laurie hand-carves every design; they are not 3D modelled on a computer and 3D printed— this includes our bespoke pieces. Each one is carved from wax, polished and stone-set by hand.

Every piece is highly considered at every angle and carved from wax to perfectly compliment the stones that will be set. We don’t use pre-fabricated, mass-produced settings made for fitting various stones and solder them on. Every setting is carved in-studio, in our signature style with special attention paid to how it will frame the stone and overall design, and how it will wear. Every small detail, down to our claw-shaped prongs, are shaped meticulously by hand.

  • Gold: our collection is made with recycled Canadian gold.

  • Stones: All of the stones in our collection are ethically-sourced and conflict-free. They are natural, mined stones.
  • Diamonds: Along with being ethically-sourced and conflict-free, we work with recycled diamonds whenever we can for the least environmental impact.
